In part one of two special Independence Day podcasts, Kentucky Housing Corporation's Executive Director, Edwin King, sits down with Heather French Henry, who currently serves as the deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA), to talk about services available to veterans and addressing those who who find themselves homeless. As the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran from the United States Marine Corps, Heather was directly impacted by her father’s service and his difficult transition coming home. When Heather became Miss America, she traveled the country sharing her family’s story to advocate for greater partnerships between community-based organizations and government to help assist in homeless, housing, and healthcare needs facing our veterans and their families.
